BENEFITS OF MUSCLE

We all know that exercise is good for us but did you know the importance of building muscle through strength training (working with free weights, machines, resistance bands etc)?

If you are not using weights during your workouts and are only focusing on aerobic exercise such as running, you are missing an important part of overall fitness.

Muscle doesn't just make us look, it is vital to our overall health!  Here are just some of the benefits:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Improves Bone Density

As we get older there is a decrease in bone mass and our bones become more fragile. One of the best ways to control this is to add strength training to your workouts a sit puts stress (the good kind!) on your body which results in denser and stronger bones.

Improves Heart Health⠀⠀⠀
You can add a cardio component to your strength training by trying out Circuits, HIIT workouts or by giving yourself minimal reset between exercises, which in turn gets your heart rate up!  Your body also gets better at transporting oxygen as you lift whic helps your hearts get stronger.

Improves our Sense of Well-being

We all know that when we look better, we feel bettter! Strength training improves muscle tone which gives us a better body image.  It also helps to release the feel good endorphines which automatically improves our mood.

Improves Sleep

Weight training in particular can be a really good way to ensure you get a good night's sleep. This is the time your body repairs and rebuilds so getting in a good 8 hours will really help your body recover.

Decreases your Risk of Injury

Strength training improves the strength of the muscles, tendons, and even the ligaments and bones.  The bones become stronger due to the overload placed on them during training and the ligaments become more flexible and better at absorbing the shock applied to them during dynamic movements.
